Speaker 1:

Let's talk about 2024 and, using what you have, I'm going to tell you a quick story, because this just happened and every one of my podcast episodes, to clear this whole from something that happened or something that I learned or something that I experienced or something right. And so I thought our heater was, our furnace was acting up. But you know, when you get a furnace a year and 15 days ago, you assume that you're okay, Nothing's going to happen to said furnace. It's like only a year old, right. And so I noticed that before, like yesterday, I had to flip the breaker to get the heat to come on. I thought that was odd and I was like, oh, maybe it's just a flu, let's just see what happens.

Speaker 1:

So I go to bed. It feels like it's working. Close to 1am I wake up freezing and I'm bundled. Of course my husband is out of town, Like, of course, like he would only be out of town when this happens, Matter of fact, I think pretty much every time something breaks he's out of town. But anyhow, we always make. We make it work.

Speaker 1:

Listen, I, whether there's a wheel, there's a way that goes perfect with this podcast episode, because I can't tell you our old dishwasher, not this new one, but our old dishwasher. I probably kept it running for an extra two years because I am a problem lover, I love to troubleshoot and I am a master when it comes to YouTube videos showing me how to fix something. Like I am so good at it. Like I'm not doing electric, not necessarily doing plumbing, but if it's little things that I can tweak, I'm going to do it right. So, anyhow, I get up at 1am it's freezing, like it's not working, I keep messing with it and, it's matter of fact, it's getting colder because it's blowing cold air in the house that I'm like okay, I really have to get some sleep tonight. I'm just going to like not deal with this and I was like, oh my gosh, we bought space heaters like electric heaters. They're not really like the ones that blow, the ones that heat up I don't really know what the column, but they're safer, I guess, unless you have little kids around and they touch them. That's obviously not good, but we had one still in our room. We had never put it in the basement or the garage and I was like you know, I'm just going to turn this on. Do it on the efficiency one, like put it on 70, keep some heat in here.

Speaker 1:

And I bundled up, woke up this morning and came downstairs it was 52 in my house, cold right, and I'm like, well, I turned everything off. You know, sometimes things just need to be reset right. What happens to us? We need to recharge, Sometimes we just need to take a break, walk away. And so I turned it back on, said let's see what happens If it's blowing cold air. I'm not going to do this.

Speaker 1:

Well, when they fixed our furnace, they left this little tool that's a thermometer that you stick down in the vent so it tells you exactly what the temperature is coming out. And last night it was 1 am. It was always like 50 to 60. That's not what I want blowing through my house, and today it's gotten up to, I think, 98 it's gotten up to. So, anyhow, we are in a way better situation than we were yesterday, right, or last night, and so we have warmth.

Speaker 1:

The heater has not turned off yet. Are we still pretty heated? I'm just checking it because we're doing this. This is today's episode. Oh yeah, we're over 100 now. Okay, I'm, that's good, I'm down with that.

Speaker 1:

So, anyhow, there's still something wrong. Let's just be honest. There's something wrong. I should not have to flip a breaker. It should work all the time. It's a year old, so we are going to cost somebody. But it's 15 degrees at my house so it's pretty cold, right.

Speaker 1:

It's going to warm up today and I'm going to be as efficient as possible. I'm going to work downstairs most of the day. I have a training for next level, year at one, and I have a client call because we had to schedule from yesterday. So again, I have a plan. I'm going to stay down here where it's warm. I'm bundled up. I don't really need to look cute Like it's fine. And tomorrow or this after, after my calls, my basement is going to start getting decluttered, so I'm going to stay warm, right.

Speaker 1:

So Whether my furnace like because I'm gonna call somebody I don't know if they're gonna get out here today or tomorrow, Hopefully early by early next week at the latest it is gonna warm up. So I'm, you know, 38 degrees, Way warmer than 15. Perspective right. And I have a fireplace. I'm not a good fire starter. I've already texted my faced up and said can you please come over sometime today and just start a fire for me? I can keep it going. I just can't start it Like I'm not good at it and we have wood, we have all of those things right. So I am being resourceful and I think that's one thing that we forget that almost all of us have everything that we need to run a business in 2024. Now I think there are some things that we do need outside of ourselves Coaching, mentorship, community yes, I do think paying for that is very, very valuable, and I think when you have skin in the game, it makes a bigger difference.

Speaker 1:

I'm not saying everyone needs it. I think it's very crucial to growth, I think it's very important, but I'm not saying you can't do it without it. I'm not saying you you know you don't need to run ads. You can grow a very successful business without running ads. Does ads make it a little easier Sometimes? Sometimes it makes it harder because you show up less, because you think the money is doing all the work for you and therefore you're not making the impact that you could.

Speaker 1:

And so, like the other thing, websites, logos. Listen, I used to make logos for everybody and I get. Logos are beautiful, but they're not required. A website is not required. The only thing you need to make money is an idea. Right, If I'm gonna sell you something. If you have a product-based business, that's a little different. But I need an idea. I need something that I am an expert at, that you aren't, that I can teach you. And I need a PayPal link and I can house the program in a Facebook group, all free. Paypal will take the fees that they want, right? The Facebook group is free. My phone that I'm gonna record videos on or go live on is free. Yes, you can add Zoom. Yes, you can add StreamYard, but that's additional things you absolutely don't need.

Speaker 1:

So where are we operating? In a place that we feel like the next thing is we're not gonna get to where we wanna go until we have the next thing. It's the same thing as we talked about this in next level, year day one. And do you think that you've made it? You only make it until you reach that goal, Until I hit a 10K month, until I hit six figures, Then I've made it. Is that the only way I've made it? No, the journey is how you make it, and if it's all about the money, the 10K is not gonna make you happy. First, split, second, you're gonna be really excited, but then what's next, and then what's next? And then what's next? And a lot of people don't understand this, but 10K is it's a lot of money.

Speaker 1:

If that's not what you're making, but when you're making it, you typically spend more right? You have taxes, higher taxes, you're in a higher tax bracket, you may have team. So how much of that 100K are you really getting? If you do profit first, depending on where your expenses are, you could be getting anywhere from 30K of that 100K to 50K you're paying yourself. So again, like, why are we so focused on? I need everything else? And I don't understand that. I can stand in my own power and I can work with what I have until I can get what I want.

Speaker 1:

I will preface that to say that learning, I think, is important. If there's something you need to learn, go learn it. If you need direction and guidance and accountability, find a way to get it. Whether it's paid or a friend, business, bestie, whatever. There's a duality here and I totally understand that. But most of us are looking outside of ourselves for the thing that's going to get us to where we want to go and the news flashes it's in you. I can help facilitate and get it out of you faster. I can help give you what one of my mentors called the cheat codes right. I've been there, done that. I can show you the way I've done it and the way I've seen my clients do it. I can help you achieve it quicker. But at the end of the day, if you're willing to do the work and you're willing to show up, you can do it on your own.

Speaker 1:

So where do you get to be more resourceful? Where are you waiting on something to happen, because you can't have success until this thing happens? My furnace is going to get fixed. Is it going to get fixed today? Probably not. Am I going to be okay? Yeah, I mean, it would suck if it was still 15. I'm not going to lie 15 outside If it wasn't getting warmer, but it's going to get warmer and I'm going to be okay. And if I didn't have heaters and it was going to be 15, I would board my dog somewhere and I would go get a hotel and I would still be okay.

Speaker 1:

Find a way to be resourceful. Stop waiting or thinking that you need XYZ thing. That matter of fact. I just taught in just one thing you can create a website on Canva if you wanted to. There's so many things that we think we need and we actually don't, and most of the time we need to go back to basics to get us where we want to go. When you're ready to fast track, find mentorship and training. If you're not in that place yet, figure it out, you have an inside of you and I am here cheering you on along the way, whether you are paying me or not.
