Why You're Posting More and Getting Less (What Actually Changed and How to Fix It)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Are you showing up consistently, posting every day, doing everything you were told to do, and still watching your reach drop and your engagement flatline? You are not alone, and you are not doing it wrong. What happened is the game changed, and most people are still playing by the old rules.
Visibility strategist, Crissy Conner breaks down exactly why posting more is no longer producing more results, and what you need to shift right now to start getting visible in a way that actually builds your business.

You're showing up more than ever. You are posting consistently. You're doing the thing everyone told you to do. And yet your reach is down. Maybe your engagement's feeling pretty flat. And you're starting to wonder if any of it is even working. And I have to tell you something. It's not your consistency that's the problem. It's what no one told you changed. and is continuing to change and will continue to change moving forward. So I want you to understand and I want you to feel seen right now in this moment because you feel like you're putting in more effort than ever and you're getting less return. you've been following advice that you were given and it honestly used to work. And now it feels like it's really falling flat. So many roles have shifted. and most people are playing the old game. So what actually changed? I'm gonna break it down in today's episode. Number one, we live in a social media AI world. And if you are a marketer or if you have ever been the one who does the marketing for your business, marketing does not stay the same. There are some core values in marketing, absolutely, but marketing is always shifting and evolving. and there are trends and there are staples, but there are so many things in between that are going to consistently change. Platforms change, algorithms change, so many things change, And now in today's world, especially if you're listening to this in 2026 and beyond, visibility has also changed. Visibility isn't the same that it was. Marketing isn't the same that it was. And we have to shift accordingly. Before... platforms used to reward volume. Now they reward something else. You posting frequently alone no longer moves the algorithm. So we see all these people who are using AI to post 100 pieces of content a day. And yes, they may get more views per se, but is it views of substance? Because when we look at True content that does well in the algorithm and I can tell you this is every platform. This is tik-tok. This is Facebook. This is Instagram. This is LinkedIn When people save your content when people share your content when you have really good watch time on your content, That depth matters more than likes It really does and more post equals more chances to get ignored if the value isn't there. So if we're posting more content and the quantity aspect, but the quality aspect is not increasing, we're just gonna be ignored 10 times harder than we were if we only posted once a day versus 10 a day. Your audience is following more accounts than they ever have. Generic content blends in, When we try to talk to everyone, it blends in. It always has. This is not new. It's just, we're seeing it in more of a wide range today than we have in the past. Used to, you could be lazy about content creation. You could be lazy about what you put on social media. You cannot be lazy anymore. And familiar, What seems like the sea of sameness does not create engagement with your audience. They're exhausted. They're exhausted friends. know, two years ago, there was a study that we watched about on average eight full length blockbuster movies a day of knowledge. that's what we got. That was two years ago. That was before we were so into AI. So what do you think it is today? Cause I guarantee you it's more than eight. It's way more than eight. More than eight two and a half hour movies, 100%. The other thing that we're seeing is what's changed is AI generated slop is everywhere and people can feel it. this is truly the elephant in a room because there is a massive amount of content online right now that is AI generated. It is generic and it is hollow. And let me tell you, as someone this has happened to, the worst thing is that you actually think something is real and you find out that it's not that it's AI generated. Let's go back to the I've talked about this before, but where the animals, the dogs find their owner, they go pick their owner and the owners are in this room and the dog goes, I thought that was real. It was heartbreaking. It was so fake. And I felt so cheated, And so people are seeing this when they have to say, Is this real or is fake? I've never seen her content look like this before. Is this real or is this fake? even if it's not a video, if people have to have the slightest inclination, That this could not be real. you've lost them. It's very similar. talk about this in video content creation, So if I do any kind of trust signals, basically they're signals that I can bring distrust to my audience, So for example, if you touch your face a lot in a video, it can mean that you're lying. And as soon as I say that, your face is gonna start itching the next time you're on a video and I apologize, but this is what happens. But we have to know if I create distrust in a video, people are done. They're done. They may come back and watch another video, but they're definitely not watching the rest of that one. And so we got to remember that when we are seeing content online, AI creates this And I'm not even gonna pick on dashes today, but AI creates this cadence, It almost looks like a poem. You never wrote like that two years ago. Let's be honest. Stop writing like that now. know, AI is never gonna give you a run on sentence. Let's be honest. The majority of us, okay, I know some of my listeners, I know that you are grammar people even I, I know the difference between you are, you're, I know the difference, But sometimes typing really fast. because I'm getting all my thoughts out and I'm feeling very convicted, I typed the wrong thing. I had run on sentences that just went on with no comma, no period, because I just felt it and I just wrote it, We're seeing that now. We're seeing perfectly curated everything with no misspellings, with no mistakes. We're not all that perfect. It's the Instagram era coming back where everything is perfectly curated on a feed. But when you outsource your voice entirely to AI, you're going to lose the thing that actually makes people stop and pay attention to you. And it's you. Your audience is not going to connect with generic captions. They're going to connect with a person. And when we create content that sounds like it could belong to anyone, it's going to be ignored by everyone. The goal is not to sound polished and perfect. It's to sound like you. So when we try for this perfect content, you know, from AI, or we try for this perfect video using our AI twin, we lose the essence of who we are, which is the reason people bought from us in the first place. I don't want you losing that. The next thing is, is that you started treating the feed as a whole strategy. So feed content is one piece. Matter of fact, posting on social media is not a strategy, friends. It's not a marketing strategy. It's not even the whole picture, So if we put all of our energy into daily posting and nothing is being built long-term, you are on a hamster wheel. Because real visibility, real marketing strategies are a mix of short term content that gets you seen today and long term content that gets you found for years. So it's the type of content that gets better with age. And we cannot be relying on just social platforms anymore. search visibility and AI visibility are huge parts of the equation. every single program I'm teaching in 2026, every membership I have, group coaching, everybody is focusing on this right now. And the ones who are actually starting to do the work and have been doing the work, they're already even just going through the process. They're already seeing results because a lot of these are foundational things that we should have been doing anyhow. So when someone asks an AI tool, whatever your choice is, who to follow for visibility strategy, I am going to be the name that comes up. 100%. That is what my plan is. That is my goal. That is why I did three months of work in six weeks, because I want that to be happening. The other thing is, is that you may be creating lots of content, but you're not creating connection. Because posts that don't invite a response get treated as noise. Plain and simple. Visibility without connection doesn't convert. I'll also say visibility without conviction doesn't convert. Consistency without authority and credibility is just noise. It's just a lot more. So how do we fix this? How do we fix this in 2026? Well, I'm glad you asked because the goal was never for you to post more. The goal has never been for you to live on social media. The goal has never been for you to feel like that you have to have a constant stream of, it's like the stock tickers, At the bottom of the news channels that have all the stock numbers on it. sometimes I feel like we need to have that constant amount of content completely going out. so that people can see we need a flashy Vegas billboard constantly, changing and updating the information that's on it and we don't. So number one. your goal should be to be seen by the right people, meaning your people, in a way that builds trust and authority over time. If it's not doing that, it is junk. So I want you to first, before we do anything else, I want you to audit your content. I want you to look what is actually performing versus what you assume would. So what is actually performing? What is actually doing really well? I told my 365 members that normally I would never expect a sales post or a post where I'm inviting people to a paid offer would do really well. Typically they're crickets and I get that because nobody wants to comment on when you're selling to them, Or inviting them to something, even if it's not a hardcore sale. And I posted this event for this, or this in-person event that I'm doing. for four months in a row and I posted it on social media and I couldn't believe the attraction that it got. Well, first of all, it was so imperfect. Secondly, I never ran it through AI to see if it thought I could improve it. I just posted from the heart. That's it. It was convicted content. It reminded me, let's do more of this. Just because you think. selling content or invitational content or offer content isn't going to do that well. Actually write it from a human perspective. You write it imperfectly with your heart and your soul and your conviction and then let me change your mind. The other thing I do is I wanna cut the content types that consistently get no traction. So for example, let's say you are always posting the same similar photo with the same smile on social media. Maybe your top changes, maybe your hair looks a little different. People are bored with that. Stop posting that, especially if it's not getting the traction except from the three people that always like your content. The other thing is, what if you tried posting less with more intention behind each piece? I still say be consistent, On most platforms, that's once a day, some platforms that's three to five times a week. It really just depends on platform you're talking about. But can you have more intention and conviction and connection behind each piece of content? Humanity behind that content. And then you can use AI to audit your content before you post it. So what I love to do, is I love to set up a project in whatever platform is your choice of AI, chat, GPT, I'm really, really partial to Claude these days and Gemini. So I would create a project and I would say, this is my content strategy content and our content strategy project. And I would say in my notes or my instructions, do not let me post vague broad content that people will scroll back past. we wanna make it your editor, not your ghostwriter. We want it to pull gold from you. Stretch me, have me go deeper. Tell me where I'm too vague. Tell me where I'm missing the connection. you do that enough, you won't need to go to social, or you won't need to go to AI anymore to type your content. Because you do that, you will become the best content creator. I'm telling you, if you start asking it to challenge you and stop letting you get by, with crappy content, it will change the game for you. Listen, some days I wanna throw my computer because AI is questioning me too much, but I know I set that up for that reason. Don't let me by with crappy content. Don't let me by with it. If I'm gonna go to a tool and ask you to help me, then you're going to help me become better. You're not gonna help me just to throw something up. You're gonna help me become better. And that's what I want for every single person, So don't let me post vague, broad content that connects with no one. The other thing is if you use AI to go deeper, we don't want to use it to replace us, but let's say, for example, you're struggling to create content from the heart. Go to your favorite AI platform and ask it to help you get deeper into your why. I feel disconnected from my business. I feel disconnected from my person. Interview me and help me get deeper on this and the real reason behind this. Help me reconnect with how much I love what I do. If you're struggling with what to... to say what you feel or to get more emotional. Again, we connect with emotions, friends. Ask AI to interview you. Pull the content out of you. Then record your audio responses back. So all AIs have a little option that you can press that little mic button and you can respond back. So it's your voice. You don't have to type and just let it go. Don't quit trying to be perfect. Say it was from the heart. Because you're always going to say things more intense. You're going to be more specific with your communication. And even if you say way more words than you would type, AI is going to pull out the best nuggets from you. Plain and simple. And understand that AI is not a tool. to replace your voice. It's a tool to unlock your voice. Stop letting it replace you. People know it's written by AI. Stop letting that happen. Take your power back. Take your brain power back. The other thing we wanna do is we wanna create variety, not just volume. So your feed needs a mix of video images, text only content, We also need a great Repetition strategy. So for example, let's say that I'm going to create a post today Let's say for example, I'm gonna create a post today that is five ways you can get visible in the next seven days that are going to blow your own mind, Let's say that. I could turn around and create a long form video or short form video for that matter and put the words on the screen and say five ways you are creating invisibility while you're trying to create visibility. So it's literally the opposite of what I just said. but different things catch people different ways. So if I'm always just saying five ways to X, Y, five ways to A, B, C, five ways to blah, creating that contrast, I'm missing out. So for example, I wrote a post on social media that said, if I wanted to stay invisible, not visible, invisible for Q2 of 2026, here's what I do. And so I basically did all the opposite. Again, so much attention because people are like, wait a minute, what? So if I'm doing any of those things, I want to stop doing them, So we get to think about the repetition. So we're gonna create variety, not just volume, but we also wanna take the one I just said that I wrote, if I wanted to say invisible for Q2 of 2026, here's what I do. It's a image post with bullet points, So I would take this and create it into a reel I could create it into a blog post. There's a lot of different things I can do this. So short form content gets seen today. Long-term content builds authority over time and keeps working for you. So if I create this as a blog, it's going to continue working for me versus the feed content may last 48 hours, could last up to a week depending on how well it does. But for the most part, it's here and gone, And then when we create variety, it also signals to all the platforms that you have your full dynamic presence, not just a content machine. And again, you get an opportunity for people to see not only hear when they read your content, your conviction, but also to feel and see it with our own eyes when you get on video. The other thing is, is that we wanna be consistent and we wanna build authority across platforms. Again, consistency alone is not enough. It's the floor, not the ceiling. We wanna make sure that authority and credibility are built through our depth, our point of view, our expertise, our leadership, our framework, our results. It's not just generic content. I have a framework. It's called the Omni Method. I have a framework that helps you get visible in a variety of ways, even if you only have 10 minutes today. So again, where are we using and talking about our frameworks? Where are we using and talking about our results? And when we show up everywhere with the same shallow freaking content, that is not a content strategy. It is not a strategy. We have to show up with substance across multiple platforms because that is a strategy. And then we also want to get visible where people are searching, not just scrolling. Again, social feeds are so pay to play these days, And algorithm dependent. Right now, search and AI are very, very search driven and are not pay to play yet, but we want to make sure that we are where people are actively looking for answers and experts. How many times do you go to chat GPT today to look for an answer to a question? How many times do you go to Claude to get an answer to a question? Your content strategy needs both the feed, the scroll, the search, the AI recommendation. And if it's not doing all of those, again, I'm not teaching anything in 2026 where we don't talk about this. This is vital to the basics of every visibility strategy moving forward. And then we wanna talk about... More is not a visibility strategy. It comes from lack. It comes from fear. And that does not serve and support us. Because typically when results dip, the instinct is to do more of what stopped working. And if you've ever read the book, 10X is easier than 2X. I'll give you the premise really quick. It's a great book, highly recommend. But the problem is, that typically when we want a 2X something, we think we just double what we did to get the results for 1x, So we just think we double it, so we just do two times the work. When actually, we're gonna pull out 20 % of the hardest hitting things that we do, and we're gonna 10x that. We're not 10x-ing 100 % of everything we do, we're 10x-ing 20 % of it. And it's not doing more, it's working smarter, not harder. So when we think about real visibility, it is about depth of impact, not this width of output. And one piece of content that truly connects does more than 10 pieces that don't. You can be the most consistent person. You can be putting out hundreds more content than I am. It doesn't mean you're gonna be making more money. You can be consistent and be building something that lasts at the same time. Those are not opposites. So again, when we think about we're posting more and we're getting less, we have to remember the algorithm changed. An AI slop has flooded the market. Generic content is invisible now. The feed is not your whole strategy. We wanna focus on variety and also long-term content. We wanna use AI to go deeper. into our voice, not replace it and sound like a sea of sameness that's out there. We want to build consistency, we want to build authority, want to build credibility and search visibility all at the same time. Go audit your last 30 days. What landed, what got ignored, what do you even notice that you don't even remember that you posted? Because AI wrote all of it. This is no shame. This is like acknowledging being self-aware and knowing how to change moving forward, knowing what to change moving forward, knowing what to evolve moving forward. This is the work we do inside of Omni, which is a portal full of all this information with weekly group coaching calls that we can go deeper for you. This is the work we do even deeper in the Visible Inner Circle, which is a hybrid program. So it's a mastermind and one-on-one with group coaching. And we do four in-person events a year. We have local opportunities if you're in Columbus, Ohio that we're offering as well. And again, we also have your week to peak that is an opportunity for us to spend five days together and really nail this down really super fast and get it done. Whatever feels aligned, let's talk, either set up a call or check out these offers and see what works better for you in your situation. But the point is, is that we're almost out of the early adopter phase. And then we're going to be out of the preparation phase and we're going to be in the reacting phase. Don't get left behind. This is not fear mongering. This is not a scare tactic. It is where we are going. It is moving fast. Marketing, visibility, AI is all moving fast. And if you are not on board, you are going to be scrambling or you're going to have to pay to play. And that's the only way you're going to be able to get on board. More is not a visibility strategy. Check out all these offers, check out what's next for you, hop on a call with me, I'll tell you exactly what's gonna work, what's not, and let's make sure that you're not only visible in the feed, you're visible to search, and you're visible to AI, because that's what I want for you. You have too big of a gift to let it be hidden, just because there are other things going on in the market. So if you love this episode or know someone who needs to listen to this episode, make sure you send it to them. Leave me a message on what you thought about today's episode and I cannot wait to serve and support you in whatever way that works for you.
